Introduction
We go on a tour of abstract subjects that have intrigued me for many years, presenting my thoughts, observations, and opinions on a range of topics that I have explored, at least superficially. My interest in counter-intuitive problems and realities was motivated, in a large part, decades ago by the marvelous 82 page Edwin Abbott 1884 classic social satire Flatland. I claim no special academic or spiritual credentials or insights, and some of my comments may seem fallacious or naïve, perhaps because they are. But it turns out that the most learned scholars differ greatly in their beliefs regarding many of these issues, so little harm is done by adding my overflowing dumpster of thoughts to the pot. Most often I am not the first to cite these thoughts anyway, and rarely are any firm conclusions reached. Perhaps the reader will be encouraged to formulate his or her own ideas on these matters, and discover a certain joy in doing so. As A. Square in Abbot's Flatland discovered,
Things are seldom what they seem.
